Pumpkin Spice Smoothie Bowl
DID YOU KNOW? Smoothie bowls are an easy way to pack a lot of nutrient-dense foods into one delicious meal, but they also can help digestion in a couple of super simple ways:
1) Making it aesthetically pleasing is FUN (at least to me 😋) but also kickstarts your saliva production and secretion of certain digestive enzymes when you’re excited about eating it.
2) Eating your smoothie instead of drinking it s l o w s you down. I drink smoothies way too fast... and if you think about the ingredients, you’re eating REAL foods so using a spoon to take bites, instead of using a straw to guzzle, allows your body to do its job more effectively and absorb more nutrients.
INGREDIENTS
Base:
1 generous tbsp pure pumpkin
1/2 banana
~1 cup of your fav vanilla milk
1 tbsp coconut oil
pumpkin pie spice (as much as you want)
1 tbsp ground flax seeds
1 tbsp unsweetened coconut
Optional: 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
Toppings:
unsweetened coconut, salted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie spice, other 1/2 of the banana (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Blend base ingredients together in a blender until smooth. Pour into a bowl. Add any/all toppings & enjoy.
