The Courage to Start

If you’re anything like me, sometimes starting can be the hardest part of any new endeavor. For nearly a year now, I have had people in my corner encouraging me to share my skills and my natural capacity for coaching with other people who need it. Everyone else believed I would be great at it, except for me… I still felt like I wasn’t ‘ready’.

I jumped into getting certifications and absorbing as much information as I could in areas I felt I needed to improve or strengthen, only to realize that I could continue to use my willingness to learn as an excuse not to put the knowledge I already had into practice.

I was avoiding action due to my fear of failure…the exact thing I want to encourage my clients not to do! In Jen Sincero’s book You Are A Badass, she quotes herself saying, “in order to kick ass, you must first lift up your foot”. I decided to walk my talk, stop doubting my abilities, and lift up my foot.

I took the steps necessary to create a space dedicated to action. I opened my doors to work with clients who need a trainer like me. I decided to recognize the worth I already carry, while also being aware that I have an endless potential to grow as a coach and a trainer. I chose to be okay with the fact that I do not know everything, but that I know enough to be a positive influence on many people.

I share all of this because I know that starting your fitness journey can also be super intimidating. It can feel easier to avoid the discomfort than to face it head on. But I am here to remind you that anyone who is any good at any thing was once a beginner! Read that again, and let it sink in.

I am so excited to learn and grow alongside clients who have also found their courage to start. If that sounds like you, let’s team up and make it happen.
